Feds Catch 109 Illegal Immigrants Between Stockton and Sacramento
Published: September 26, 2006

SACRAMENTO (AP) - Federal officials on Monday said they arrested 109 immigration violators from Sacramento to Stockton last week, including at least seven who had criminal records.

By Monday, 98 had been deported, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Many had ignored final deportation orders already issued by immigration judges and can be sent home without further hearings.

The remaining 11 were in federal custody awaiting deportation hearings.

The immigrants came from four countries, primarily Mexico. They were caught in Sacramento, Lodi and Stockton as part of the government’s ongoing “Operation Return to Sender,” ICE said in a news release. Nationals of El Salvador, Fiji and the Philippines also were caught in the sweep.

“If you are ordered deported, you should obey the immigration court’s order. Otherwise, ICE is going to track you down and send you home,” said Tim Aitken, the acting field office director for ICE detention and removal operations in San Francisco.

ICE officials said the sweep was part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s broader effort to improve border security, target businesses that hire illegal immigrants and deport those here illegally.

"Could you tell me if I find my neighbour who is an immigrant who is creating havoc in my neighbourhood by stalking me and my family over a period of three years and the local police are buying their drugs from him ,where do I turn as a citizen who has never been involved with such a sick individual in my life? Please advise me where to turn when the police are themselves are part of the problem?"

"They should also pass a bill to get these white trailer trash scum removed from society! Like the ignorant white power looser that posted a comment above. I don't condone illegal criminals from being here, but the honest hard working ones should be given a chance. The gvmt should cut all benefits and welfare laws to everyone and get the lazy Americans and illegals off their asses and put them to work."

"My (great) grandfather came to this country in 1620 from Antwerp Belgium. God bless him for doing it and doing it properly. He came in through New Amsterdam(now New York) and went through all the legal steps. When the Mayflower came here there were no laws, but once they were instituted people had to obide by them. This passive attitude of thinking it is the same today as it was when the Mayflower came across is absurd!"

"The illegals are taking $30,000 per year more out of the economy than they put in. We are subsidizing cheap illegal labor for certain business.

Illegals are criminals. They broke the law coming here. They break the law with identity theft. They break the law while driving. Legal immigrants we welcome.

They are not contributing to our society; to the contrary, they are taking out. If they were engineers, scientists, doctors,, etc the best of the best, yes they produce more than they take out."

"When the Mayflower crossed the atlantic it was full of immigrants. After time they were accepted as "Americans." Immigrants that have built a family face what should be the same and be accepted as Americans. Immigrants come here for the same reason as they did when the first ships set out of europe toward freedom. Steps should be taken by all Americans to welcome immigrants pursuing a better life."

"set up something like the witness protection program with a twist like deportation to a devils Island kind of place where they can't come back so easy which wouldn't have to even be guarded
screw'em illegal is illegal let the courts send repeat offenders there too
that should help deter the gang banger crap and destruction of our inner cities"

"James .. This topic is not broad and complex. It's simple. These people broke the law. They have taken jobs away from american citizens. They drain resources in our schools and the medical system. Our jails are full of them. They want to live here? Apply like my great grandparents did and wait their turn. How simple it is!"

"I agree with George. This topic is broad and complex. These people have contributed to economy of this country, moreover they are willing to pay the fine for what they did "wrong", they are willing to pay taxes so their children can go to school too. The impact of these people in our economy is great. The strength of this country stands on diversity. Most of our grandparents came here the same way because they didn't have a choice. This issue should not be yin and yang."

"George.. what don't you liberals understand about ILLEGAL! We are a country of laws. They and their illegal family can move back to mexico so my taxes won't be so high for putting their illegal kids thru school or paying their medical expenses."

"George, I disagree with you, these people came into the US ILLEGALLY, so they brought whatever happens to them. I live here in Southern Calif and see this everyday. The LAWS were to protect our country and these ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS have NO RESPECT for the United States, otherwise they would not have broken the law to come here ILLEGALLY"

"The laws are created to protect human rights and dictate how people should behave. Immigrants who have been here for years, have created family and haven't done aything wrong should be protected and not treated on the same way.If the law has not been applied for many years, why should you destroy their and their family life??? As society we miss the common sense."

"Yes this was a small victory for legal US citizens in Calif, I really wish something would be put in place so Gil Cedillo could not keep putting this bill up to the Governor."

"Gil Cedillo lost again. SB 1162 was vetoed by the Governor."
