The Deceit of Sacramento’s ‘Traffic Calming’
Published: May 8, 2008
Land Park Community Association you say? Nobody directly quoted in your piece; why? And what are the details of neighborhood street specific issues? the substance of the board's position, the attitude of the startled attendees at the end of the meeting? Your "article" is alarmist; Ever been to Brooklyn, NY? Maximum cement streets and sidewalks let drivers speed right -on -through!
oh all knowing political pundit - traffic calming in my neighborhood on non -through streets slows down cars just plain going too fast -GREAT idea when residents are around walking dogs or kids tro the parks.
I remember the first time I saw this nonsense in the mid-town area. There is an exit from Business 80 at E St because the civil engineers designing it, put a one way street there to facilitate traffic flow downtown.

I just don't go down there anymore if I can help it and have no doubt many others feel the same way. I am sure the businesses down there have suffered
Those who brought us the farce of "traffic calming" have a "butt-plug" mentality; they enjoy constipating the traffic flow for the rest of us.

No, I really don't care what people do in their private lives, but the metaphor is really appropriate when you think of the demographics of the "rainbow sector", and of some of these activist types.

If it were up to me, I would give Midtown and Land Park a "Traffic Enema"; perhaps they could appreciate that.
