Schwarzenegger decries film productions moving out of state
"Ugly Betty" sparks comments
Published: May 12, 2008

SACRAMENTO (AP) - California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger says the state needs to increase tax incentives to movie and TV studios as a way to keep them from moving productions out of state.

He says other states like Florida, Louisiana and New Mexico are offering incentives that are luring studios productions away at the cost of tens of thousands of jobs.

The governor’s comments were sparked by plans to move production of the popular “Ugly Betty” show from Los Angeles to New York, where there are new tax incentives.

A group that promotes the film and television business in Los Angeles says production was down 23% in the first quarter of this year compared to last year.

"Yes and making incentives is not going to stop them. I lived in California for 40 years but I had enough and it's like going back in time. No more California stupid regulations that are ruining the State and the Country..."
