“Sponsors” of offensive “art” duped?
UPDATE:
California Arts Council deception?
Over the weekend, and today I have been in conversations with the three companies listed as “sponsors” of Baghdad Bill’s vile display.
Here are the results:
1) River City Bank: was unaware and shocked that they are listed as a sponsor for this display, as of 10:00 AM today (Monday 7/25) bank executives were in a closed meeting presumably to decide what to do about it. I expect to announce on my San Francisco show today at Noon (KNEW 910 AM) that they have renounced the “works” in question.
2) Lexis-Nexis: the individual listed as the contact for this “sponsor” on the Arts Council web site tells me that my call was the first he heard of anything having to do with his company sponsoring such an outrage (he agreed that the content of the show was “offensive”) and that he was back-tracking up the corporate food-chain to find out more.
3) GBC Realtors (Linda Wood, Broker – also listed as sponsor contact at Arts Council web site). No response to my weekend email asking for her response.
I will have more for our Bay Area readers today from Noon – 3 PM on Talk 910 KNEW AM; and for the rest of the west coast tonight from 7 – 10 PM on NewsTalk 1530 KFBK AM.
