River City BAnk renounces “art” display - pulls
I just got off the telephone with Jeanne Reaves, President and CEO of River City Bank.
1) River City Bank is NOT a sponsor of the offensive "art" on display at the AG's office
2) They were asked to fund a non-profit legal aid organization that assists artists who need but cannot afford legal representation ... they were never asked to contribute to anything like what is on display
3) They are furious (my word) at the Art's Council for listing them as a sponsor
4) They are furious (my word) at irresponsible media (uninformed blogs and a small radio station) that have been directing public outrage toward the bank with having even spoken with anyone at the bank
5) The content of the exhibit "does not sit well" with the president of the bank
In short, despite what you have been hearing, River City Bank was duped; they are not a sponsor of this outrage, and would not sponsor such a thing given the opportunity. As I type this they are contacting the California Arts Council to demand a retraction.
