Let Terri Go
I must say that I am at a loss as to why the conservative issue de jour is keeping a dead woman's internal organs fed. There is so much misinformation floating around, including people who believe Terri is speaking and other such nonsense.

According to the last state ruling, 5 doctors, 2 appointed by Michael, 2 appointed by the Schindlers and 1 appointed by the court all agreed that Terri will never recover in any way. You see the problem is that most of her brain has liquified. There are some basic pieces of brain still intact that regulate her breathing and allow her muslces to spasm...but that's it.

I've pissed off some conservatives because I am not following the herd on this one. Almost all the talk radio hosts are beside themselves with rage. They are all screaming that a woman is being killed, murdered, because she is an inconvenience.

Terri died 15 years ago. If this had happened to her a century ago, she would have been dead. She has no consciousness, no awareness, no capacity for thought or feeling or love. She is nothing more than a shell being forced to not die.

Think about this: if Terri is conscious like so many of you believe then she is being forced to live in an unfathomably cruel hell on earth. If she is not aware of anything then the essence of what is human, of her being, is gone and all that remains is a casing.

Terri's husband said she told him she would not want to live this way. Too many of you are quick to condemn him as a liar and a crook. Yet I doubt any of you have a living will. You say Michael is in it for the money and he ought to just divorce her. That opinion proves you have done no research on this matter.

What if the case is this: Terri Schiavo told her husband that she would never want to live in this state but they, like most of us, did not have a living will. And when this tragedy befell Terri, maybe, just maybe her husband actually loves her enough to see that her wish is granted and if he got a divorce her could no longer see to that.

Terri Schiavo is dead. Her parents are kind-hearted, loving and delusional. They want her to remain "alive" because it makes them feel better.

The saddest part of all of this is no one, except Michael, is paying any heed to what Terri wanted. And because he is most likely trying to fulfill his wife's wish, you label him a villan. That is why I am not towing the conservative line on this issue.
