Arnold, Part II
He’s only been working the DC beat for less than 2-weeks but may already have a scoop of sorts. In a byline story in today’s edition of ROLL CALL, former LA Daily News Sacramento bureau reporter David Drucker quotes unnamed “Prominent Republican officials” in California expect Arnold to announce his re-election bid sometime before next Friday (September 16), the opening day of the California Republican fall convention.
Drucker directly quotes, without naming, one “Republican official” as saying that “He’ll (Arnold) announce sometime between [today] and the convention next weekend”.
Drucker doesn’t give any further detail and the balance of his piece basically outlines Arnold’s troubles and suggests that the Govinator’s announcement is “…part of a multifaceted effort to invigorate flagging public support for a November special election…”
------------
Overheard under our own dome: His inexplicable slavishness to all things Arnold may be explained. A Rush Limbaugh wannabe who long ago gave up both conservative credentials and any pretense of independence (or appearance of putting in the dues necessary to develop a commercially successful program) in order to act as a free lance conduit for Arnold will apparently soon collect his reward.
Word heard is that there will soon be a Public Information Officer opening at a mid-level state agency and that this loyal lapdog is first in line for what may be a nick-of-time job offer. He’s been schmoozing this job for a while, glad to hear that he’s managed an escape strategy. We wish him better luck in his new career than he’s managed in his last couple.
