We have added another weekly focus, Ruben Navarette (Dallas Morning News) will join the intelligence crew, offering his insight into the journey of correcting "illegal immigration" for the country - not targeted racism or person rants toward a single people.

I'm back to the morning prep...talk to you at 5AM on 1380 KTKZ if you're up and ready.

Hogue Show on 1380 KTKZ

Intelligence Bill Is Done Deal

Sunday News on the "Intelligence Bill", which includes our themes in this blog lately surrounding drvier's license for illegal immigrants...from CNN this afternoon...

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist predicted Sunday that Congress will have an intelligence overhaul bill by midweek, even though the chairmen of the House and Senate armed services committees want changes in its current version.

Sen. John Warner, R-Virginia, and Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-California, say they want the bill to guarantee that those on the war front would get timely information, while other supporters of the bill -- Republicans and Democrats alike -- say such provisions can wait.

"I think everybody's going to come to the table, and in the best spirit of the way these bodies work, we may work well," Frist said on ABC's "This Week."

"We'll come together, and there will be compromise, but compromise that will be to the satisfaction of the majority of people in the House and the Senate."

From Michelle Malkin's Blog...

This afternoon, Rep. Jane Harman (D-California) told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that maverick Republican Jim Sensenbrenner has "been accommodated" in the House-Senate conference committee that is coming up with a compromise intelligence/immigration reform bill.

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, agreed with Harman that the concerns of Sensenbrenner have been addressed. "There have been a lot of compromises on this bill," he said. "It has come a long, long way."

I'll be interested to see what exactly the compromise bill looks like and await a statement from Sensenbrenner himself.

Great example by Sensenbrenner...

Sensenbrenner offers a lesson for ALL of us when discussing "illegal immigration" reform. I'll be talking about this in the morning on 1380 KTKZ and as I guest host Hugh Hewitt's Show tomorrow afternoon from 3-6PM.

Who was Texas First Fabian?

Assembly Speaker, Fabian Nunez, released an opinion column in the Sacramento Bee last week, blaming the Republicans and Arnold Schwarzenegger for imitating Texas when it comes to the initiative to reform the process of re-districting in California.

Mr. Speaker, with all due respect, who was Texas first?

Let's go back to 2000, the year of the census returns. After the Clinton Administration was determined to play with the rules of gathering census calculations, we finally had the process performed and upheld with its integrity (somewhat) attached.

In the end, California had a BIG increase in population and a very large majority of liberal leadership in Sacramento. There was a deal behind closed door, the Republicans wanted to help their cause with Congressional Districts - knowing it was 'something' over nothing with the Democrat leadership at a time of a national census report.

The Democrats gerrymandered the statewide districts for 'safe elections' in 2002 and 2004. (They never expected a recall election in 2003)

My questions again...who played Texas before Texas? Answer: Sacramento's Democrat leadership in 2000!

Now we'll watch the Democrats play the victim over the efforting of the "Fair Districts Now" initiative, and others soon to follow. Playing the victim - something the Democrats are very talented in doing I might add. They're already calling this effort (of initiative to reform the process of drawing the statewide districts) a power grab.

Next they'll start painting any pressure on Kevin Shelley as a plot to remove him from office so that Governor Schwarzenegger can appoint his own replacement.

(With the re-districting process gaining momentum, watch for the Democrats to circle the wagons around 'embarrassment number one' - Sect of State Kevin Shelley.)

If we have a "special election" in 2005, the Democrats will desire their own 'puppet' to deal with the election process, especially an election that has an initiative on the ballot reforming re-districting in California.

The Democrats 'own this guy'...Kevin Shelley.

With federal investigations, state personnel issues and lawsuits...all of the dirt that has fallen around Kevin Shelley...the Dems can throw him over the railing at a moment's notice. And don't think they haven't let him know this thus far!

During the recall, Shelley ran a clean election, but his office staff was full of Bill Jones staffers. They would have gone to the press if there were any shenanigans with the recall process - and Shelley knew this.

Now the good ship 'SOS Shelley' has purged those Bill Jones staffers and Shelley has placed his own shipmates onboard.

Expect Dirty Tricks...from the Secretary of State's Office during a 'special election' in 2005. Kevin Shelley is owned by the Democrats...owned body and soul by the party and he will perform to save his career.

Republican's first plan of action should be removing Kevin Shelley from office as soon as possible, so we can move toward a special election and more reform for this state that is still in the hands of the liberal Democrat's 'web of control'!

No “Irrational Illegal Immigration” Campaigns - Please!

Great of Mark Williams to bring up "Illegal Immigration"...and he is right about one thing here...this issue will be (already is in many forums) the 'hot button issue' for 2005.

Yet, illegal immigration needs numerous solutions, not "reactionary rhetoric" or "emotional rants" for the sake of gaining a radio audience. (A sin that 'John and Ken' have committed on numerous occasions at KFI Radio in Los Angeles. )

I hope what I'm reading and hearing here is NOT a trend of other talk hosts wanting to follow KFI's lead. Talk about a disaster for the direction of the state. I think we've been down that road before and it cost the state 10-12 years of Republican leadership. (Republican; because you'll find no attention to troubles of illegal immigration inside of the Democrat Party.)

No 'single issue proposition or legislation' will solve what this state and the entire country faces when it comes to illegal immigrations, national security and (to a lesser extent) legal immigration.

It's time to move past the sophomoric themes of, "just roun'em up and stick'em in a truck and bump'em back o'vr the border", and contribute intelligent conversation, concepts and legislation to fix the problem without losing more future ground in the process.

The solutions are MANY and the RISK is HIGHER than ever before...it will take more than radical (irrational) sounding, ratings hungry talk hosts to lead the cause on this issue.

As a nation, the 9-11 Commission's 'Intelligence Bill' has been a blessing for the country and the Republican Party. The open debate surrounding the content of this piece of legislation has brought 'common people' - who normally don't care to consider the issue - into the process.

I've offered a 'blog-thot' on some strategy...as a state, there are also considerations. HERE is a blog submission from November 10th that is a worthy of consideration, considering the new initiative(s) rolling around inside of the Governor's Office and Ted Costa's "People's Advocate" laboratory.

KOGO Radio's Roger Hedgecock was mentioned...I'll get another opportunity to fill in for Roger the week of December 13th through 17th. I'm sure to tread upon the immigration trail during the broadcasts. I'll make sure to return with items of intelligence from the journey on the Roger Hedgecock Show (KOGO Radio) in San Diego - the "Hot Bed" of illegal immigration conversation.

The Red Kettle is Back!
Like several other major retailers, Mervyns Stores entered this Christmas season with a new policy, which prohibited soliciting in front of thier establishments. This included the Salvation Army.

Well according to the San Francisco Chronicle, Mervyns has had a change of heart. So If you want to enjoy the familiar holiday sounds of the ringing bell and change dropping into the kettle, you know where to go! (NOT TARGET!)

Think we can get them back in the Santa Suits? Just an idea!
