Paul Harvey to 1380 KTKZ

Since KFBK dropped Paul Harvey on Monday (December 27th), 1380 KTKZ has decided to pick him up for the Sacramento market.

Starting Tuesday, January 4th - Paul Harvey is on 1380 KTKZ - and twice during the morning show Monday through Friday.

Paul Harvey on 1380 KTKZ:

5:30AM - "News and Commentary"
8:45AM - "News and Commentary"
1:01PM - "The Rest of the Story" (After Fox News)
5:01PM - "The Rest of the Story" (After Fox News)

...For those who are asking, 1380 KTKZ is keeping Fox News.

We've had Fox News for the past three years in Sacramento; one of the first radio stations in the nation to air Fox News Radio when they started. We have no plans to change now even if others are joining the parade.

So Fox News AND Paul Harvey are on KFBK, uh...make it 1380 KTKZ.
Spread the word, Paul Harvey moves over to Sacramento's 1380 KTKZ...

Hogue Show on 1380 KTKZ is 5-9AM Weekdays.

KOVR Offering Political Censorship?

Did anyone notice KOVR-TV (Channel 13 / Sacramento) 10PM news hour last night - Monday, January 27th?

At 10:40PM the anchors teased to a break by leading into a commentary called "The Point". My friend - and frequent guest on "The Hogue Show" - Mark Hyman, who is VP of Media Relations for Sinclair Broadcasting (current ownership of KOVR-TV) is the host of the commentary feature for Sinclair's affiliate TV stations.

As the commentary began, it was Hyman discussing 'media news stories' of 2004. Hyman lead into his year end commentary by saying, "...offering this year's worst news job is Dan Rather and CBS News." Hyman's commentary was poking some fun at Rather's 'memogate' and awarding the retiring Rather with this year's "Worst News Story".

Hyman's commentary offered a sarcastic comparison of Rather's memo toward Bush and the National Guard, to blaming George W. Bush for the kidnapping of the "Lindberg Baby"...due to a letter/email that was signed by Bush addressed to "Bruno", the charged assailant of the kidnapping and crime.

(In 1934, Bruno Hauptmann was tried and convicted of kidnapping and murder and sentenced to death. He was executed in 1935 after a series of delays, in the electric chair.)

As the commentary continued Hyman tossed to a graphic showing the CBS News logo; the feed was suddenly put into digital reverse...then stopped all together. KOVR had a moment of 'dead air' and 'black screen', then running to the commercial break as if nothing ever happened.

When the anchors returned from the break, they went into the weather and the rest of the programming and the commentary was never mentioned. Considering that Sinclair Broadcasting has sold KOVR-TV to CBS, is this a revelation of some sensitivity by the management at KOVR?

Did they censor a political commentary because it was 'negative' on Rather and CBS?

Is this the first of many programming events where CBS will begin to censor their news content on KOVR in Sacramento?

Do we have new GM's and OM's who are preparing for the 'mainstream media news' rules?

It's worth the investigation...We'll have Mark Hyman on the show when I get back to the studio next week. We'll let you know what is to come of KOVR and the TV News of Sacramento with CBS arriving in the Capitol.

Costa Asked to make Changes…

Breaking News on "Fair Districts Now"...

I'm hearing that Ted Costa, of the People's Advocate ('Father of the Recall' and now the re-districting initiative), has been asked to change his 're-districting initiative' one more time.

Sources tell me that Costa has been asked to change the date that the initiative - if passed - would take effect. They (those who are against such an initiative, both Dems and GOP members) want to move the date from 2006 up to 2012!

Ted Costa has said "no"!

So Ted's initiative stands alone (currently) and is continuing to gather signatures to make the April 29th deadline for a 'special election' ballot likely to come this Fall in California.

Things to watch for...

  • What will Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger say about 're-districting' in his "State of the State Address" on January 5th? Will Arnold offer his support for the initiative, the way it reads currently?

  • If Arnold supports, will the Democrats start a drive for their own 're-districting initiative', one that will offer an active date of 2012 rather than 2006?

  • What is the fuss surrounding the date about?

The next 'mid-term election' comes in 2006. The Dems know this initiative will pass with ease and they are trying to save the kingdom?

There are also some Republicans who like the safe districts of the "gerrymandered kingdom", so they want to push it off to 2012.

Stay tuned, this will become a HUGE item if the governor mentions it during his SOS come January 5th.

We'll have ALL of the conversation on 1380 KTKZ.

    McClintock’s Best Chance

From today's "Buzz" in the Sacramento Bee..

Never one to miss an opportunity to make himself better known, state Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi sent thousands of holiday postcards featuring a picture of his large family. On the reverse, Garamendi wished the best for the recipients, noted the problems facing California and added there is a "great opportunity" to solve them.

"I want to meet this challenge," Garamendi wrote. "Therefore, in 2006, I will be a candidate for lieutenant governor. ... I need and appreciate your continued support and friendship." Garamendi included his campaign Web site address and the dates and locations of upcoming campaign events.

As it stands right now, here are the MAJOR candidates for Lt. Governor in 2006:

    State Senator Tom McClintock (Republican)
State Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi (Democrat)
California Congressman Darrel Issa (Republican; not announced as of yet)

In a recent poll taken surrounding 'name recognition', McClintock had a solid lead over every and any competitor. McClintock gathered 40-45% of the poll's vote on name recognition.

McClintock gained much of his 'name recognition' during the Recall Election of 2003, when he ran against Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger and Democrat (current Lt. Governor) Cruz Bustamante. The Senator was able to capture 13% of the vote and finish third.

McClintock became the darling of the nation's attention...

The senator was able to run 'hidden from the press' during the race.

The real battle was between Schwarznegger and Bustamante. The media decided to make things interesting and they 'used' Senator McClintock as a 'hammer' for Schwarzenegger, attempting to split the vote(s) and keep a 'tax and spend, union friend' Democrat in the governor's office.

McClintock also received thousands of dollars from Indian Tribes (Gambling) to stay in the race, a move that has caused him some big problems on the conservative side of the aisle in the Capitol.

If Senator Tom McClintock wins the Republican Primary...

The questions for Senator McClintock will be how will the press treat him in a statewide election against a liberal Democrat like Garamendi, and when will the press launch on his very conservative ideology?

The combination of the Democrats 'union money' (large campaign cash account), a statewide majority (ever so slightly shrinking) in voter registration, the overwhelming acceptance of liberal, if not progressive social issues and the support of the state's huge liberal media could prove to be too much of a hurdle for the solid state senator in one-on-one battle with an incumbent Democrat.

Lest we forget the senator's bent to be the Republican Party's "Arnold Antagonist" at ever turn...

Will McClintock receive the type of support needed from Arnold Schwarzenegger to compete and WIN a statewide race for Sacramento? Will Arnold desire an antagonists next door in the "Belly of the Beast"?

It should be a very interesting GOP Primary for this office. One advantage that McClintock will have is an initiative in 2005 for the reformation of the districts come 2006.

If this passes, I'm believing that Senator McClintock will have his best chance EVER in winning a statewide election for the Republican Party...uh, make that 'winning a statewide election for the senator'.

Check out my NEW BLOG site called HOGUE BLOG for all of my comments and opinions from the "Belly of the Beast"

    Young Lions

A purported video tape of the Mosul bombing by those claiming responsibility brings mixed results this morning. According to the AP:

The video sequence _ which carried Monday's date on the footage _ shows three Ansar al-Sunna Army guerrillas clad in black, wearing face masks and carrying AK-47 automatic rifles, describing the plan to blow up the mess hall at Marez base on the outskirts of the city of Mosul in northern Iraq. One of the men read a statement saying a member of the group _ identified as Abu Omar al-Musali _ would carry the attack by breaking into the base through the perimeter fence."He will take advantage of the change of guards. We have been observing their schedule for a long time. This lion will then proceed to his target and we will take advantage of lunch time. He will storm the dining room where the crusaders and their (Iraqi) allies are gathered," said the unidentified man.

In other words, the good news is, this was not the work of someone who had infiltrated our force network by deception over a few weeks time. This means it is harder to prove the vaunted loss of credibility and rampant hate for US forces the Arab/Us MSM claim was the obvious and easy pathway for an "inside job". The troops have got to breathe a little easier with this news too. The bad news is we had an obvious breach of perimeter security. But you can fix that. In fact I'm sure it'a already done.

These punks are too pathetic to lose to. We just can't let it happen. Young lions. Yeah, right.
