Union’s Capitol Buzz Picks up the Beat

Inside of the Union's Capitol Buzz (I read the Union, you should too)...

It’s not all smiles within the Republican Party, either. Although President Bush’s win made the GOP happy at the national level, the failure of Republicans to gain seats in the California Legislature has re-opened many old wounds.

Political newsletters that circulate under the Capitol dome are full of Republicans pointing fingers and engaging in Monday-morning quarterbacking. Did business groups focus too much on moderate Republicans instead of helping conservatives? Did the legislative leaders do just the opposite? How did the party end up giving so much financial support to candidates with flaws that were easy to exploit? Why didn’t the party find a way to help Bill Jones run a real campaign for U.S. Senate?

The answers, of course, depend on who is asked. One explanation: The redistricting that took place in 2001 gave the Democrats a huge edge, and therefore the Republicans should be happy to have simply held onto the three Democrat-leaning districts they won two years ago.

This is ALL a result of "gerrymandered" districts in California election process.

On 1380 KTKZ, we are organizing our efforts for the initiative drive for Fair Districts Now. Ted Costa and George Keiffer (LA Chair of the Chamber of Commerce) are hammering out differences and establishing coordination for the signature drive that will begin at the turn of the year.

During the month of January, get ready for another "Drive-by Signing" event - this time to finish the Recall that started on 1380 KTKZ in February of 2003.

To the Republican Party; stop the 'moderate versus conservative' family fighting. It is time for the GOP to grow up and legislate from a position of 'pragmatic power', especially here in California.

The reason the GOP maintained the numbers is due to the maturity and strength of the party - not because of tossed dollars on bad candidates. (Bill Jones campaign excluded from this comment.)

Some have also complained about the location of the campaign money, that too much money was used to close to the coastline (Blue Counties). Ok, I can engage in this debate, but remember - the reasons there were races near the coast was due to the gerrymandering by the state legislature after the last census.

Let's fix the gerrymandering and push State Senator John Campbell's part time legislature and continue the debate on term limits. Stay the course Republicans, there is a day coming...

Chirp…Chirp…Chirp (Crickets for the Bee)

Those crickets sounding off are in honor of the Sacramento Bee.

In the end, Sacramento's daily newspaper NEVER offered one column inch to Joseph Rudulph and his hate crime in Oregon. (Read the whole story HERE.)

The Bee didn't do one story or report...not even an AP Wire offering...nothing!

"I hear nuthin, I see nuthin, it doesn't fit our political agenda...I say nuthin!" And they get away with this because they can...monopoly on the news that fits in their print.

Is this journalism? Welcome back Sac Union...welcome back!

Muslim Network TV in America

The country's first Muslim-themed television channel is set to launch Tuesday with the aim of countering what its founders say are biased images of Muslims in the mainstream media.

I spent 30-minutes watching tonight at THIS site. The network (while I watched) featured an 'Arab and Jew Comedy Team' performing 'live' (recorded live) from a theatre in Denver, Colorado. They were funny, but much of it came across as forced humor as I felt the audience treading upon 'intellectual eggshells' (they knew better) with some of the humorous content.

It's worth the time in viewing, take a peek and prepare for the future - Muslim (Islamic) TV in America.

and tell me what you think...what you are watching and what the network is communicating to Americans and the Muslim Communities in the US.

I'll follow this blog with your email comments and a few of my own after viewing for a period of time. I will not post racial overtones and diatribes - try to have something intelligent to contribute, please. We all have our scepticisms, try to express them without throwing verbal bombs.

UPDATE...Here is an initial thought, I've noticed that there is nothing patriotic about this network. There has been no mention of the USA, our soldiers in battle, news of country value...so far, nothing in any content has reflected this country or America. I'll keep watching to see if I'm wrong.

“Birthed Stem-cells” Provide Miracle Cure!

Miracle cure using stem-cells for paralyzed woman...

California just passed 'Prop 71' which affords $3 billion ($6 billion before finished) for stem cell research - with most of the attention toward the embryonic stem-cell research.

Today, yet another report, that the BEST results are coming from adult stem-cells and umbilical cord blood stem-cells - not embryonic stem-cells. Nearly 65% of the successful science behind stem-cell research is in the field of adult stem-cells and umbilical cord blood stem-cells.

So why the Hollywood and anti-Bush propaganda for the controversial embryonic stem-cells, because of the money surrounding the business of abortion. Over the past ten years, support for abortion has fallen off. The liberals forced the embryonic stem-cell research upon the culture to offer another 'reason' for abortion and the business of abortion.

If miracles cure like this South Korean story are happening, as well as a success rate of nearly 65% for adult stem-cells and umbilical cord blood stem-cells...why are we focusing on embryonic? You tell me folks, why?

Sacramento NAACP Bought and Paid For?

This recent article in the Sac Bee had me thinking over the Thanksgiving break.

Why is the Sacramento Chapter of the NAACP a foe of the chartered school initiative in California, especially the effort of Kevin Johnson's St. Hope Academy and the success at Margaret Fortune's Sacramento High?

I've had lunch with the out going President of the Sacramento Chapter of the NAACP, David DeLuz, interestingly enough at a Republican fund raising event...his brother's (Craig DeLuz, a fine Republican) bid for city council this past year. David is a fine man, well spoken and well intentioned inside of his ideology.

I like David DeLuz and I disagree with him on most, if not all, political and social issues. Yet, I'm confused as to his stance (and the Sacto NAACP's stance) against the chartered school success at Sacramento High.

My only conceivable source of explanation is a quid pro quo with the local teacher's union surrounding the protests of the charted school decision by the school board and St. Hope Academy.

Now, I can 'understand' the teacher's union being committed to the NAACP - for obvious, politically and job security reasons...but why is the Sacto NAACP supportive of the teacher's union? Or should I ask if they are dependent upon the teacher's union?

This has the markings an agreement negotiated by the likes of Jesse Jackson and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. If not, someone from the PUSH Coalition should be recruiting Sacto's NAACP for a new apprentice on educational entitlements.

Notice this segment of the article: "...DeLuz and his team of younger African American professionals have performed a small miracle. DeLuz and Williams said the branch has more than doubled its membership, paid off its debts, beefed up its legal services, registered 3,000 new voters and created a spiffy Web site..."

Is the teacher's union a major contributor to the fledgling Sacramento Chapter? Did the union help with the minimal turn around of the Sacto NAACP's financial health?

Something is askew...why would the NAACP side with an organization that buried Sacramento High School and become a constant foe of those who offered up thousands - if not millions - of dollars to resurrect the educational system at Sac High, as well as student performance? Why?

Is the Sacramento Chapter of the NAACP bought and paid for?

I also find the 'other major accomplishments' for the NAACP to be bit conlficted with the needs and issues of the black community in Sacramento:

  • When fights among students of different races broke out at an Elk Grove High School last Feb ruary, the local NAACP held a community forum questioning whether African American students were disciplined more severely, and more often, than students of other races who committed similar offenses.

  • DeLuz said he reached out to the Sacramento Valley chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), which helps protect American Muslims from discrimination. (CAIR has been investigated by the federal government on numerous occassions for collecting and contributing money to terrorists organizations worldwide.)

  • Met with local gay and lesbian activists at the Lambda (Man-Boy Love; men who desire young boys for sex) Community Center to discuss the alarming spread of AIDS among African American women, many of them infected by African American men in secret gay relationships.

  • He fought Ward Connerly's campaign to ban racial classifications, Proposition 54 - and won.

  • Seriously, are these the issues at heart for the Black Community of Sacramento?
